TEACHING AN ART OR SCIENCE.....

Day 15: Today as usual, we begins with a prayer. The first session of the class was handled by Dr Maya ma'am. She shared the ideas on class management tips, Skills of a teacher, Teaching is both art(inborn talent) and science.

Art+science- Excellent teacher

Skill+ Competencies- Science

Skills of a teacher includes:

•Explanation skill

•Clear voice

•Make child ready to learn

•Skill of questioning

•Skill of blackboard writing

At the end of the session, Ma'am show a video of carrot, Egg and Coffee beans in a pot. On boiling, hard carrot became soft, soft egg became hard and coffee bean dissolved in water and gave aroma to water. It is concluded that Teacher should be like coffee beans. Teacher should care, love and support the students. 

Second session of class was handled by Dr Ancy ma'am.

 She revised the Piaget's stages of cognitive development. Then discussed points on its educational implications. These includes:

•Provide valuable information and advice on curriculum planning and structuring the scheme of studies. 

•Help teachers and parents in planning the education of children and providing the most appropriate and stimulating environment. 

•A focus on the process of children's thinking, not just it's products. 

•Children are encouraged to discover and learn for themselves through a visual and practical interaction with the subject. 

Third session of class was handled by Dr Giby ma'am.

She taught us about psychoanalytic theory. Father of psychoanalytic theory is Sigmund Freud. This theory means analyzing behavior and mind. Then discussed about three different kinds of minds. "You can modify the life, make it colorful and remove or omit negative things." Life is a Chance and Chance is Yours. Then she gave many examples for substantiating this theory. 

Fourth session of class was handled by Dr Joju sir.Sir shared the ideas on 'Role of teachers in digital era' through slide presentation.

Teaching is managing human mind. The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled(Plutarch).

Digital era teacher can 

•Store information with ease. 

•Prepare anywhere any time. 

•Teach any time anywhere anybody in any mode. 

•Keep connected with students. 

•Document easily. 

Afternoon session was optional. As Shiney ma'am was absent, she had given us a work to write the contribution of scientists in the field of science. 



So we went to library and took the book and refer it. 

Last hour class was handled by Dr George Thomas sir. We played a minor game, for improving concentration.
