EARLY STEPS IN TEACHING AND PEDAGOGY....

Day 30: The day begins with a prayer at chappal. Dr  Maya ma'am took the first hour class. Ma'am shared ideas on Aims of education in Realism. 

It includes:

•Preparation for life. 

•Acquisition of knowledge and analysis through senses. 

•Discovers truth through scientific method. 

Harmony of Realism

•Scientific attitude

•Harmony with real life

•Real life experience are key elements in learning. 

Curriculum of Realism

•Child can choose his subjects

•Comprehensive in nature

•Life related

•Vernacular language

These were the points discussed at the class. 

Then Archana ma'am came to the class and continued the portion that she taught at last class. Behaviourism, cognitive psychology, Humanistic psychology, Gestalt psychology. 

Behaviorism is the study of observable behaviour. 

Cognitive psychology means power areas of mind or brain is essential to describe mental process. 

Humanistic psychology developed as a response to psycho analysis and behaviorism. 

Gestalt psychology, focussed on perception and how perception influences thinking and problem solving. 

Then we moved to principal sir class. Sir discussed about the topic on 'Early stages in Teaching and pedagogy'. 

•Learning must be an AHA experience. 

•Education is the manifestation of the perfection. 

•Student is the most significant stake holder. 

•Three developmental stage of a human being: 

C- childhood

A- Adulthood

P- Parenthood

After sir shared the points, sir told us to form a group with elder, middle and younger daughter in the home. And after that we wrote the advantages and disadvantages of being a elder, middle, younger daughter in the home. A leader from each of these three sections came forward and shared their views. It was an interesting session and I enjoyed a lot. 

Afternoon session was handled by Dr Joju sir. Sir taught about 'Edgar Dale's Cone of Experience'.

In 1946,Dale introduced the cone of experience concept in a textbook 'Audiovisual methods in Teaching.'The main ideas Sir shared were:

•Direct, purposeful experience

•Contrived experience

•Dramatic participation

•Demonstration experiment

•Field trips

•Exhibition and museum

•Motion pictures

•Radio recording

•Images

•Verbal symbol

Last hour we moved to ground to play minor games.
